Media Advisory: United Sport & Cycle Supports Safe Community Activities Through Curbside Bike Repair Drop-Off & Private Bicycle Shopping Programs
For Immediate Release: United Sport & Cycle Now Offering Curbside Bike Repair Drop-Off & Appointment-Based Bicycle Shopping to Keep Edmontonians Moving During COVID-19
Edmonton, Alberta – The staff at United Sport & Cycle know that an active lifestyle is important, now more than ever. With so many families in self-isolation, the need for safe physical activities is critical in the weeks and months ahead.
Led by Manager of Marketing and Operations, Kelly Hodgson, United Sport & Cycle will now be offering customers curbside bike repair drop-offs and 1-on-1 bike shopping appointments.
As Hodgson explains, “After many many inquiries, we understand our customers need to be able to access their local bike shop during this time.”
He adds, “For many, cycling is an essential pastime and many people's primary mode of transportation. Biking provides a safe way to stay active while maintaining social distancing. It allows Edmontonians to stay mentally and physically healthy, and to be able to make their way to and from essential services.
"Plus, it's a great way to get the kids outside and let them burn off some energy!”
Starting Thursday, March 26th, at their Main Store in Edmonton's Old Strathcona, customers will be able to book 1-on-1 bike shopping experiences by calling the United Sport & Cycle at 780-433-1181 (and Pressing "2").
After receiving their appointment confirmation, individuals will be able shop and select new bikes for themselves or their family members in a 1-on-1 environment.
Customers can also book a spring bike tune-up by dropping off their bike curbside, Monday-Saturday, Noon-6pm. After a quick chat with our mechanics, their bike will be brought inside and we will contact them later on with a tune-up estimate. Once they approve the tune-up estimate, the work will be completed, and the customer will pick a convenient time for their private bike pick-up.
Hodgson adds, “For over 90 years we’ve been through a lot together in this Community of ours, but together we’ll get through this.
"United Sport & Cycle continues to take all the necessary precautionary measures during the emergence of COVID-19 and we continue to take our responsibility in flattening the curve seriously.
"Outside of our new private appointments, our physical stores remain temporarily closed and we encourage our customers to shop us online. We continue to offer curbside pickup and free next-business-day delivery.”
