❓ Curling FAQs

Q: Do I need curling shoes, or can I wear runners?

A: Curling shoes are designed for safety & performance and are the best choice however, we also sell sliders for regular shoes so you can try curling without a full shoe investment.

Q: What’s the difference between a gripper and a slider?

A: A slider helps you glide, a gripper keeps you steady. Most shoes use both!

Q: What’s the best broom for rec players?

A: Lightweight, durable brooms with replaceable pads are perfect. Ask our staff for recommendations.

Q: When should I replace my broom head?

A: If you’re sweeping harder than usual or it feels “slippery” on the ice, it’s time for a new pad.

Q: Can I try out gear before buying?

A: Yes — come in-store and we’ll fit you properly.

Q: What if I’m left-handed?

A: Some shoes (like Asham ) have removable sliders/grippers, so you can customize for left or right-handed play. We can also order in shoes that do not have removable sliders/grippers.

Q: What local rinks and clubs are available in Edmonton and the surrounding areas?

  • After 15–20 minutes of curling, your feet expand. Make sure your shoes have enough room to avoid pins & needles.
  • You can bring your current curling gear in store and our experts will perform a fit and safety check on it - making suggestions if things need upgrading.
