I like this bag, at least I really want to. It seems well-made. However, after three uses, I noticed that one of the bungee cords that’s supposed to tie the pads to the front (exterior) of the bag was starting to fray and the underlying rubber was exposed. I contacted CCM directly, sent pictures, video etc. as they requested. And they responded that it was a “cosmetic” issue. This doesn’t make sense since what was frayed was the protective sheathing around the numerous rubber strands that make the bungee cord do what it does. And sure enough after my son’s fourth ice with the new bag, I noticed some of the now exposed small rubber strands were in fact starting to break. I sent a follow up email to CCM about it and never heard back. So what I have now is a $300 plus brand new bag that after four uses I had to apply black gorilla duct tape to the bungee cords to stop from breaking, and protect the inner rubber core, so I could still use the Goalie pad strapping system. Between CCM‘s, pretty terrible quality, and lack of effort to back up their products I wouldn’t recommend this bag. If you want the exterior goalie strap feature in a goalie bag, like I did, go for the Grit Sumo bags I’d say. At the very least this is a design flaw on the CCM bags because the bungee straps used to hold the goalie pads, through the course of normal use, eg when you’re using the bag in the locker room opens up and literally just laying flat on the ground are just laying on the ground, exposed to foot traffic. I guarantee this is what happened, that kids step on these straps walking around a crowded room in skates and it breaks. From what I can tell looking at the grits, this isn’t an issue because the strap is off the ground . So at a minimum I would thought CCM should be recognizing that this is a product design flaw based on the way it’s intended to be used, and at minimum simply just send additional bungee straps or set set of straps compensate for this. My 10 yr old son just started playing competitive goalie, I’d say I’ve been leaning towards dressing him in CCM gear ( his pads, blocker and trapper or all CCM at the moment) for example. I likely will now reconsider this, based on my experience here with product quality and more importantly CCM’s response to addressing warranty and our product issues.
