Well it looked tiny when it arrived and it was hard to imagine it fitting my daughter, but wow this thing is stretchy! The handles on the top are really well sewn and make it so much easier for her to pull on. She's taken some tumbles on the ice and it seems to offer a decent amount of tailbone protection, so I'd say all around a good choice :). For reference, I ordered the size Medium for my daughter who is a slim 8 year old, in clothing she usually wears a size 8 or 10.
