At United Sport & Cycle, we strive for excellence in all that we do. We pride ourselves in going above and beyond, and we have extended this concept to all the aspects of our business. This includes our interactions with our local community, the environment, and you! It is a spectacular feeling when we get to “wow” somebody walking into our store and we are grateful to have this opportunity every day. This idea is tied into our core purpose and our guiding principle: to help create amazing memories. From that first bike ride, to that first time skating on an outdoor rink, to crossing that finish line, and to your team winning the championship—we help you experience more of these special moments.
United Sport & Cycle helps put on over 200 community events around Canada every year! Whether is it the MS Bike Ride, the Coronation Triathlon, or the Edmonton Pride Run — we are relentlessly supportive of our local sports community. Here at United Sport & Cycle, we are committed to making sport & active living accessible to all the members of our community. This is why we helped establish the sports equipment charity Sport Central—which helps families with financial barriers access the joy of sports. Do you have an upcoming community event that you would like United Sport & Cycle to be a part of? Or is your hockey team looking for a silent auction donation? Drop us a line.
Our staff are passionate about what they do and they live sports in their day-to-day life. Beyond being experts at repairing your bike, sharpening that perfect edge on your skates, and helping you find the right baseball glove, our staff are leaders in the sports community. When you meet members of the United Sport & Cycle team, you are often meeting championship runners & triathletes, goalies, figure skaters, football quarterbacks, and lacrosse players! From our back offices to our customer service team, our store is full of passionate sports fans, volunteers, coaches, and athletes. Out in the community, you’ll see many of us coaching and leading bike club rides.
United Sport & Cycle has been family-owned for 4 generations, and the relationships we create here are lifelong. Today, brother-and-sister team Jason Bots & Lisa Ross are the 4th generation leaders of United Sport & Cycle—and they proudly continue the legacy of their uncle Wilf, their grandparents Reg & Lois, and their great-great-uncle Raleigh. Our family extends to our employees and our customers too: many of our employees met their best friends and partners while working here and we have multiple generations of customers who visit us every week—from grandparents down to grandkids! We welcome you to come and visit our store, and we hope that you feel like part of the ever-growing United Sport & Cycle family.
Leave with the Perfect Fit
All of our team members have extensive training, meet directly with suppliers and have first-hand experience with our products. Many are passionate athletes themselves, and understand what it takes to push to the next level–whatever your goals might be.
Every detail of our store has been designed to make it easy to find the right gear. Try out a new bat in our batting cages, make sure you’re comfortable on your new bike in our indoor test ride area, or see how your new stick feels in our hockey shooting lanes.
Our products are meant to move, to stretch, to get sweaty. They support you as you pound the pavement, tear up turf, and rip down trails. Ultimately, they need to work for your body and your sport.
Family Owned Since 1928
In 1928, Raleigh Brooks united four local shops into one cycle shop on Whyte Avenue in Edmonton. At that moment, our name and ethos was born. Over the past 89 years, we've continued to explore sports as a way to connect with others. Our story has taken us from sharpening scissors and selling a few bike models to providing countless products for dozens of sports.
Through 95 years, you’ll experience events that change who you are, or further cement your values. United has experienced several turning points that enabled us to grow into the sports leader we are today. Find out more about our the events that helped shape us and the rest of our highlights.
Part of the Community
Edmonton's grown from a small town to a big city, but the feeling of close-knit community hasn't changed. We do our part to keep that feeling alive by finding ways to support important local events and projects. Find out more about the many teams and organizations that we sponsor.
